Food G6PD Patients Have to Avoid


Last post, we mentioned how fava beans trigger hemolytic anemia in G6PD deficiency patients. Here, we will introduce several other foods that should be avoided by these patients.




Legumes is another group of food that an individual with G6PD deficiency should avoid. (Broad range of beans)



Soya and soy. Be aware that they are a common additive found in many food such as ice-cream, burgers, pizzas, chocolates and doughnuts.


Menthol/Mint flavoured candies are another group of foods that patients with G6PD have to avoid. For some, it might be dangerous to even inhale this substance!
